Sturgis Nikides
Heartbroken.
Sturgis Nikides was a force—wonderfully complex. On the exterior he had a 70’s punk attitude, a sharp wit, and was a no-apologies kind of guy. Underneath, he was a total sweetheart; vulnerable and sensitive. Everyone who truly knew him, absolutely loved him.
He taught me so much during a supremely magical time of music and personal growth. Our short time together in Voidville was extraordinary and complicated, but playing music with him remains a highlight of mylife. Sturgis was my favorite kind of musician; you could see and feel his heart when he played the guitar. While he was ridiculously savvy technically, it was always outshone by passionate storytelling performances that were super-melodic and creative.
I will always be grateful for our time together.
RIP, dear one.
